WHO ARE WE?
The organization’s objectives are to initiate student engagement in health advocacy, create an atmosphere allowing students to form life-long networking connections with similarly passionate individuals, enrich the university’s educational curriculum through exposure to global institutions such as the World Health Organization, and convene students interested in various departments like public health, global studies, healthcare policy, and public policy to discuss and exchange ideas. UNCC's AMWHO chapter was founded Fall 2017.
HOW CAN I JOIN?
You can join AMWHO UNCC by either attending our meetings or attending conferences. The upcoming meetings are on April 18th and 25th from 6-7pm in CHHS 159. To also be considered a member and to receive member benefits, you have to pay a $15 dollars per year. In terms of going to conferences, there are regional conferences and international conferences. Regional Conferences and International Conference dates for 2020 are to be announced. For more information on AMWHO Inc visit the main page
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE REGIONAL CONFERENCE AND THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE?
Regional Conference is a three day event, but it is mainly geared towards a specific region of the country. The International Conference is a larger scale three day event for participants, not just focusing on one geographic region.
HOW CAN I GET TO THE CONFERENCES?
For years past conferences have been drivable distances. If you do not have a vehicle we organize a UNCC AMWHO carpool to take us to and from the conference through group chats and central meeting spots. If you volunteer to drive others we fill out travel grants to compensate you for gas. Once you have arrived at the conference you will either stay on campus through the “host-a-delegate” program or at a hotel close to the campus. Any other conference-related activities will provide transportation.
CAN I GET REIMBURSED FOR ATTENDING CONFERENCES?
We apply for SGA grants which goes towards the reimbursement of everyone who applied for the conference. Once the grant is approved, we make direct deposits or checks payable to the bank accounts on file. It should take about two weeks from the time we return from the conference.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED IF I CAN’T COME TO MEETINGS?
Aside from member meetings, AMWHO UNCC attends AMWHO conferences around the state and country. We also participate in volunteer opportunities and host campus events.
